PRESENTATIONS.
At Belfast on Thursday a travelling bag was presented to Mr Thos. Jones, on the ; occasion of his leaving the service of ( Messrs Oppeuheimer and Co. Mr Jones i briefly thanked his fellow-employes for the : gift, and the health of the recipient having \ been drunk, the proceedings were brought to a close. Our Waiau correspondent writes as follows Mr W.T. Burnip, who is leaving Waiau to take possession of the Terminus Hotel, Oxford, was given an enthusiastic “send-off” at Whittle’s Hotel on WednesJ day night. There was a large gathering ; .of friends from different parts of the district. Mr George Clare, as chairman, on. behalf of a number of friends, presented Mr Burnip with a set of carvers, suitably inscribed, and referred to Mr Burnip’s ! good qualities, wishing him prosperity ■ and happiness in his new home, Mr ' Burnip briefly replied. A number of songs were sung during the evening, A vote of .thanks to the pianist and the singing of “Auld Syne ’’ brought the proceediagalioajclose,
