THE MINING DISASTER.

Owing to a fresh fire having broken out, or an increase of one of the fires located in the Dudley pit, the search parties were withdrawn, and the work of searching for the bodies suspended till to-day. The consensus of opinion is that the explosion in the Dudley Pit occurred in the part of the mine that has not been worked for some time, in which rails were being laid down with a view to the resumption of work at an early date. ' NEWCASTLE, March 25.
The fire in the mine is now extensive, and the search for the, remaining bodies has been abandoned. As smoke is belching from the pit mouth, it has been decided to flood the mine immediately, as the only way of coping with the fire.
