Volunteer Notices. t - mil *■ ~Q isTKicT, Orders. Volunteer Office, Christchurch, 26th March, ISOS. 1. The Volunteers of Canterbury will move into Camp of Exercise at Sumner on the 7th April proximo. 2. Drill Order will be the only order of dress throughout the Camp, and will include leggings, haversacks and water-bottles, and greatcoats to be used as special orders may require. 3. The Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry, Canterbury Mounted hides, and E Battery Artillery will be camped separately on a site appointed, horses to be picketted. ibis Camp will be, for purposes of discipline, under the command of the semor-omcer present. 4. The Lyttelton Naval Artillery and N Battery Artillery will occupy tho forts allotted to them. 5. The two Infantry Battalions will be camped in brigade, under command of LioutenantCnlonel Francis, V.D., who will detail officers for brigade appointments. 6. The Mounted Corps will bo under the command of Major Slater, V.D. Major Young, V. L)., will bo Camp Quarter-master. 7. The Canterbury Mounted Eifles, E. Battery Artillery, Engineers and N.C. Battalion of Infantry will march from the Drillshed at S p.m. The South Canterbury Battalion of Infantry* on arrival at Christchurch Station, will march to camp. 8. Tho Waimato Kifles will travel by Express Train to Timaru, thoro joining their headquarters. A special train will convey the youth Canterbury troops, leaving Timaru at 7 p.m., picking up Volunteer’s and horses at Temuka, Orari and A ahhurtou en route. Tho Rangiora and Kaiapoi Eifles wilitravel by the ordinary train arriving in Christchurch at 7.25 p.m. 9. On breakiug-up tho Camp on the 11th proximo, a train leaving Christchurch at 7 p.m. will convey the South Canterbury troops to their stations, Waimate Rifles proceeding by ordinary train from Timaru to Waimata on tho following morning. Tho Rangiora and Kaiapoi Corps will proceed by the ordinary train leaving Christchurch at 5.15 p.m. 10, Supplementary Orders referring to the Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry will be communicated. 11. Further orders for Camp routine will be published in Camp Orders for tho 7th ' April, 1898. ' 12. Surgeon-MajorThomas, F.M.a, willarrange for the attendance of Medical Officers in ■ • Camp. • 13. Volunteers will furnish their own bedding and mess utensils (straw will ba provided). 14. Rations will be issued by. the contractor in Camp, on requisition. Corps will provide for their own cooking and the transport of their own baggage to and from Camp. 15. The Officers of Engineers and Infantry Battalions will mess together in a marquee provided for the purpose. 16. Volunteers will show the customary respect for private property, and carefully avoid damaging fences, &c,, and encroaching on enclosed or cultivated ground. H.
