SWIMMING.
The annual swimming races in connection with the boys’ department of the West Christchurch School were held yesterday afternoon. The races were under the supervision of the teachers of the-school, assisted by Mr W. Garrard, who acted as starter.' Plunging (under thirteen), 50yds—J. Gray. 6sec, 1; E. Kemp, scr, 2. Neatest Header—E. Kemp, 1; F. M’Clea, 2. Back Eace, 25yds—W. Turnbull, 1; C. .Himsley, 2. Consolation, 25yds—E.Barritt, 1; W. Barrell, 2. ■ The annual swimming races in connec■with the Eichmond School, were held in the bath yesterday afternoon. The weather was all that hould be desired for such an ahd there was a large attendance of- parents' and friends. Mr D. Barns acted; as starter, Mr K. Bassett as timekeeper; Messrs Snowball, Clark, Blank and Schneider as judges ; and Mr Alexander Gray as handicapper. Before, the last event, Mr Howard, on behalf of the children, expressed very hearty thanks to the committee for money to purchase prizes, to the parents for their attendance, and to the gentlemen who in various-Capacities had helped to carry the sports through. The following were the .winners:—
