JUNIOR COMPETITION WINNERS.

President’s Cup— Midland No. 1 Team.

The winners of this competition —the Midland No. 1 Team—are, perhaps, the strongest team that has ever taken part in President Cup matches. As the following table shows, the team have won every game in which they have played—on six occasions by an innings. Their highest score was 365, the next best being 277 for eight wickets (innings declared closed) and 247. The lowest was CO (on a wet wicket) and the next lowest 101, which equals the highest score made against them. The lowest score made against them was 6 by the Lancaster Park No. 1 team. This is a record of which any team might well bo proud, and the captain thereof is to be complimented on the excellent performance accomplished. Strange and Costello have been most conspicuous for good performances with the bat, while the last-named player and O’Farrell have shared the bowling honours. The following shows the team’s

Vice-President’s Cup—Sydenham and Addington No. 1 Team. It is with a great deal of pleasure that I chronicle the win of the suburban club’s No. 1 team in this competition, a result which I might mention is due in no small degree to the manner in which the team has been handled by its captain, F. Rowe. As is usual with all the teams from the Sydenham Club, the members of this team are very enthusiastic devotees of the game, and thus all the more pleasing is it to congratulate them upon their success. The team has been undefeated this season, winning all of the six games played (three by an innings), while three other matches have been gained by default. Appended will be found the performances of the team with the batting and bowling averages of the players: —
