SAMARITAN HOME.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, — Please permit me to rectify a statement concerning the Samaritan Home which appears in your report of the proceedings of the Charitable Aid Board meeting held yesterday. Your report says the Board received a letter stating that the Samaritan Home would be deficient £264 for the year. This is misleading, because, having received the promised £IOO from the Government, we have sufficient funds to pay all claims upon us up to the end of this month. A letter was written by our Treasurer (Mr C. P. N. Blakiston), stating that, in the event of the Home being brought under the Act as a separate institution, our estimated requirements from the Charitable Aid Board for next year would bo £264. This is rather a different case. The Board also states that only the Sumner Council voted in our favour. I have the authority of: one of [the Woolston town councillors for;

saying that they also’ passed a unanimous vote in our favour, and, lastly, that the Christchurch City Council, who are most interested, also passed a voto in our favour.—lam, &c., H. B. SORENSEN.
