BOAD BOARD.

SPRINGS. The monthly meeting of this Board was held on Tuesday; present—Messrs John Wolfe (chairman), Kimber, Quayle and Marshall. Correspondence was read from the Valuation Department, requesting that the valuation roll, which had been opened for inspection, should be returned. It was stated that the request had been complied with. Prom the Treasury, Wellington, stating that it had paid the balance of subsidy on rates for the year ending March 31, 1897, into the Board’s account. Received. From the Department of Lands and Survey, Christchurch, forwarding a form to be filled in and returned, showing how the accrued thirds and fourths which had been paid into the Board’s account during the past year, had been expended.. It was decided that the Clerk should, furnish the necessary returns. The Overseer’s report ryas read, and it was decided to shingle and repair various roads before winter; to erect a new bridge, with concrete walls, on Gould’s Road ; to re-deck the bridge at-Collins, and Greaves’s corner; and to make the necessary:repairs to various other bridges. The Clerk was instructed to take the necessary steps to cut down trees that overhung various roads, and to serve a legal notice on one ratepayer who had not complied with a request to clear igorse and willows from a public drain. It was decided that the general election for members of the Board should be held on Friday, May 6. After passing accounts amounting to <£3B2 Os Id the Board rose.
