Mr C. O’Connor. There, wao a large attendance on the concluding, day, yesterday, of ,tho New Brighton Trotting Club’s meeting., The surface of the track was very loose in places, and not conducive to fast time, yet some of the performances were distinctly meritorious, particularly that of Brookholm in the St Patrick’s Handicap, of Florrie in the Avon Handicap, and of Berlin Abdallah in the Telegraph Handicap (in which Wildwood showed immense speed when ho very tardily got, fairly going). The totalisator investments for the day amounted ‘to'.£3ol2 10s, making' .£5070 10s for the . meeting. The excursion train from Christchurch conveyed a fair number of visitors, and these, together with tho local people, constituted a satisfactory attendance. Although once or twice during the afternoon the weather appeared threatening, the rain held off until tho close of the racing. Tho majority of tho events wore interesting, but speculation was limited, and the sum of -6652, which was passed through the totalisator, was £77 less than that handled at the corresponding meeting last year.
