LITTLE RIVER REGATTA,

Tho second : regatta under the auspices of tho Little River Regatta Committee took place yesterday on the upper reaches of Lake Forsyth, hut the high wind and the rough water had a serious effect upon tho rowing. Despite the threatening aspect of the weather, a large number of excursionists made the trip, though comparatively few, outside those directly interested in tho regatta, broke their journey at Lake Forsyth. Tho high wind raised a heavy sea, and the combination rather spoilt the racing. A late start was made and programme time was completely lost, which was not to he , wondered at under the adverse* conditions.'The seventh event was finished a few minutes before the train left for Christchurch, and only Akaroa remained behind for the last—the Youths' Double Sculls—and rowed" over the course. Ebert stroke, M’Cormack cox), 4. Lyttelton and Wairewa were smartest away, tho former gradually working to the front. The slide of the stroke of the Union boat carried away just after the start, and the crew paddled home. Lyttelton and Wairewa fought out a splendid finish, Lyttelton winning by a length and a half, Y.M.C.A. a dozen lengths away.

At a qunrter-of-a-mile Wairewa had worked to the front, and maintained their position to the finish, winning by three lengths, Akarca several lengths away.
