CHRISTMAS SERVICES.

HOLY TRINITY, LYTTELTON,

Christmas Day was celebrated at this Church with bright services, attended by large congregations. There were two celebrations of the Holy Eucharist—one at 7 a.m., and the second, which was fully choral, at 11 a.m. There were 110 communicants, most of whom received at the early service. Matins was said at 10.30 a.m. At the choral evensong a number of carols were sung by the choir, under the leadership of Mr Just. The anthem was Simpir’s “Sing, sing, O Heavens!” The altar, font, pulpit and choir-stalls were beautifully adorned with white flowers. The vicar, the Rev C. Coates, preached at the choral celebration a short sermon from the text, “ Glory to God in the highest, on earth peace, good-will toward men.”
