MELBOURNE, Dec. 27.
Elaborate preparations are being made by the Government for the entertainment of the Federal delegates.
■ The conference of Premiers has been postponed until towards the end of February, owing to the inability of Sir John Forrest to visit Melbourne. As Mr Seddon also will not be able to be present the decision arrived at by the Premiers with regard to the admission of Asiatics to the colonies, and other questions of general interest to Australasia, will be referred to him with a. view to united action being taken.
Eeceived Dec. 27, 11.20 p.m. A BALLOON ACCIDENT.
A large balloon, which was being used for an ascent exhibition to-day, escaped and collapsed over Hobson’s Bay. The baHoon cost =£l2oo and contained 40,000. feet of gas when it got loose.
Deceived Deo. 28,12.45 aim, CHARGE OF MURDER.
A man named Gregan has been arrested on a charge of murdering his father at Clifton Hill. The tragedy is supposed to be the result of a quarrel.
