WAIMAKARIRI HARBOUR BOARD.

The monthly meeting of this Board was held on Monday evening; present —Messrs Lissaman (chairman), IV right, Cniiton, Doubledav, Ilayman, Hyatt, Horrell, M’Lachlan and Parnham. Correspondence was received from the Minister of Marine Pushing the Board’s reason for wishing to rescind the hy-law relating to the pilot. It was decided to inform the Minister that the Board considered the present by-law misleading and wished the insertion of one which would apply to a signalman. A deputation from the Cure Boating’ Club interviewed the Board relative to the leasing of the section on which the shod stood, The request was for the insertion of a clause in the lease that would guarantee to the club the reerection of the siied in case of fire. Agreed to. It was agreed to allow Messrs M’Alister and Thompson an extra sum for the work done by them at fete wart s Gully. The signalman’s monthly report stated he had sounded the bar and found nine feet on August 29. Stewart’s Cully was one foot deeper since the silt had. been removed. The Chairman of the Work's Committee’reported that the EmmPu feims and Kestrel hau touchud wtieu coming in by the "Tilly. They had put two men on to deepen the channel put tho sjiot, which wr.s now four feet deep at low water. The committee was empowered to send the dredge to the gully, and to erect a small groin opposite the present one. Finance — Receipts" =£3, credit .£'32 19s 9d. Accounts to £ls 3s 3d were passed for payment. Out of four applicants Mr G, 'Wright was appointed Vignulman. It was decided to purchase a boat from Mr J. Sims at £25. The Works Committee was p.uthorised to employ a man to drive the dredge plant; Messrs Doubieday and M’Lachlan to see to the repairs. The proceedings then terminated.
