MAIL NOTICES.

Mails close for the following places as under, subject to the necessary alterations : Saturday, July 31. For Westport, per Orowaiti, at 11.10 a.m.; late fee letters, 11.20 a.m.; guard’s van, 12.10 p.m. train. For Greymouth and Coast, per Eosamond, at 11.10 a.m.; late fee letters, 11.20 a.m.; guard’s van, 12.10 p.m. train. For Northern Ports, per Hauroto, at 4.20 p.m.; late fee letters, 4.35 p.m.; guard’s van, 5.30 p.m. train. For Northern Ports, Westport, and West Coast, per Eotorua, at 7.45 p.m.; late fee letters, 8 p.m.; guard’s van, 9.16 p.m. train. Monday, August 2. For Chatham Islands, per Kahu, at 7.45 p.m.; late fee letters, 8 p.m.; guard’s van, 9.15 p.m. train. Wednesday, August 4. For Australian Colonies, vi& Bluff, per express, to connect with Talune, at 10.30 a.m.,- late fee letters, 10.40 a.m.; mail van, 11 a.m. train. For Northern Ports, Samoa, Hawaii, also United States, Canada, West Indies, &c.. United Kingdom and Continent of Europe, via San Francisco (due London Sept. 8), per Takapuna,at 7.45 p.m.,- late fee letters, 8 p.m.; late letter box in ticket vestibule, Eailway Station, 9.10 p.m.; money orders, 4 p.m, ; registered letters, 6 p.m.; books and newspapers, 7.30 p.m. Mails for Australia, Ac., per Tarawera close at Auckland on August 2, at 4 p.m. Mails for Earotonga and Tahiti, per Upolu, close at Auckland on August 4. Mails for South Africa leave Melbourne on August 20. Mails for Noumea, New Hebrides and Fiji close at Sydney on August 12. From July 26 a second daily mail will be exchanged with Hornby, closing at Christchurch at 3 p.m. and Hornby at 9 a.m. Note —Prom August 1 to Sept, 30, the mail to Upper Waiau Ferry and Hanmer Plains will bo closed at Christchurch at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, returning ,on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
