LONG HOURS.

to’ the editor.

Sir --Your correspondent, “ W;Q.,” in complaining-of the long hours worked by errand boys of sixteen (at that age we call them porters at home) says that they only get 5s a week. Surely " a W.Q.” must be mistaken as to pay—ss a week for a strapping lad of sixteen with the'appetite of a horse ! Why, his boots and clothes will cost more than that.. -I'shall make further inquiries, and if I find it correct I will clear'out of this prosperous land before my family get old enough to work.—l am, &c., NEW CHUM.
