NON - COMMISSIONED OFFICERS’ CLUB.

A general meeting of the Christchurch Non-commissioned Officers’ Club was hold at .the club-room last night. Staff-Ser-geant-Major Barrett (president) occupied the chair,- and ten members were present. A letter was received from the honorary Secretary of - the Dunedin .Non-commis-sioned Officers’ Club, stating, on behalf of the Dunedin Tournament Committee, that it was ’ the wish’ of many volunteers that the next military sports - should be held in Christchurch. . A discussion took place, during which it was pointed out that Boxing Day and New Year’s Day were occupied by other gatherings. It was resolved,, oh; the ; motion of Sergeant Colclough, .seconded by Corporal Inglis—- “ That the Dunedin Non-commissioned Officers’ Club be informed that it would only be possible to hold the sports in Christchurch during the show, week (November), and if they could send teams then, -this club would do all in its power to make the tournament successful, and, if that time will suit, the Dunedin Club be requested to ask Colonel Webb to communicate with Colonel Gordon.” It was decided to postpone the cribbage match with -the 'Lyttelton Non-commissioned Officers’, Gln% ,to Thursday, April 1. After some discussion, a proposition by Sergeant Colclongh, seconded by Sergeant Trebilcoek, to the effect that non-com-missioned officers wishing to join the club should send in a written application to the Secretary, was agreed to, and it was decided to send a circular, with an application for ; membership, to each non-com-missioned officer in the district. It was decided to procure a number of military books ,for- the use of the club. Sergeant Gibson was elected a member of the committee’"in place of’ Sergeant Colclough, resigned.- A voter' of thanks was passed to the-President for the-.gift -of a f ramed portrait of himself. ;
