MARKET REPORTS.

EANGTOSA. ! The weekly market at Rangiora yesterday was largely attended, and the yards were again crowded with sheep, the recent prices for which wore maintained. The bidding throughout the sale was animated, and with the exception of about 1000 sheep, everything changed hands, the sheep withdrawn being too good to boil down but not good enough to breed from. 3PSING-STON. An entry of between 8000 and 9000 sheep crime forward at the Springston yards yesterday, the bulk of which were good useful sorts. The attendance was good, and business must be considered most satisfactory. There were rather more ewes, both cross-breds and meriuoes, than are required at this late season of the year, but a very fair clearance was made, farmers showing an inclination to buy anything with a good, sound mouth. The ■principal sale was a lino of about 1200 forward cross-bred wethers from the Peninsula, which were taken for topping-off, at 10s. A nice line of about 1000 ewes from the same quarter, however, were withdrawn at 8s 3d. Fat cross-bred wethers brought 10s 6d to 10s lOci, do mixed sexes 8s 6d to 10s, do maiden ewes 9s 7d, fat lambs 8s 6d to 10s Bd, two-tooth breeding ewes 7s to 7s 9d, two and four-tooth do 8s 3d to 10s ; six and eight-tooth do 7s 6d to 8s 9d, sound-mouthed do 6s 6d to 8s 6d, failingmouthed and aged do 2s 4d to 5s 7d, fourtooth store wethers 8s to 9s, small twotooth store wethers 6s 8d to 7s 6d, do mixed two-tooths 6s Sd to 7s 3d, good store lambs 7s to Bs, and small do 5s to 6s 6d, full-mouthed merino owes 3s lid, and aged do 2s 5d to 2s Bd.

TIN WALD. Fully 20,000 sheep were yarded at Tinwald yesterday, and this large entry, following the big entries of the past few weeks, no doubt had a depressing effect upon the sale. The attendance was good, and there were evidently many farmers still wanting sheep, but even the elastic Ashburton market can hardly absorb the immense numbers that have been sent here for sale from all parts of the country for some weeks past, without prices being affected. Bidding was decidedly dull, and for breeding ewes prices were not so high as at Ashburton last week. No doubt the prospect of another large sale at the ram and ewe fair on Thursday had a depressing effect upon the sale. Cattle were selling a little better than for some time past, there being a few really nice beasts amongst the entry. Pigs sold fairly well. The following prices were obtained : —Fat cross-breds 5s to 11s 6d, fat lambs 9s to 9s 6d, fat merino ewes 3s 9d to 4s 6d, good cross-bred stores from 8s to 9s lid, cross-bred ewes from 6s to 8s 6d; merino ewes, sound 3s lOd, culls Is 3d; store lambs 6s to 8s Bd. Cattle—Fat steers and heifers £4 5s to <£6 10s, stores from 11s 6d to 22s 6d, dairy cows unsaleable. Pigs— Weaners 4s 6d, porkers 11s, sows 20s.
