KAIAPOI LICENSING ELECTION.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Finding that certain unprincipled people have set a rumour afloat that I am the cause of the election about to take place, and in common justice to myself, I think I can put the matter quite clear before the electors. A week before the nominations closed my name appeared in tho Press as ono of the five candidates who had agreed to be nominated. Now, had I not been nominated in this way, I most certainly should havo withdrawn. But I feel sure the electors of Ivaiapoi district know that I would not place myself in the position of an interloper. The cause was that a few electors thought that v, r o should have an election to circulate the money. I told one of these that the local bodies could not afford the expense, and that such a course was a very bad one.—l am, Ac,, * EDWIN FELD WICK.
