FEDERAL ELECTIONS.
[Pee Peess Association.] SYDNEY, Maech 5.. Polling day for the Federal elections yesterday was observed as a holiday. The elections passed off quietly throughout the colonies. The latest returns show that the following are the leading candidates Messrs Barton, Carruthers, M’Millan, Reid, Lyne, E. E. O’Connor, Sir J. Abbott, Messrs Walker and Wise, the last two having replaced Messrs Copeland and See as further returns came in. About 140 small returns have still to come in, but it is almost certain that Cardinal Moran has little chance of being included among the ten. MELBOURNE, March 5.
