FIRES.
TPer Press Association.! LONDON, Feb. 7. Messrs Maple and Company’s immense furnishing warehouses, at Camden Town, London, have been destroyed by fire. The damage is estimated at £BO,OOO. SYDNEY, Feb. 8. Seven business places at Forbes have been destroyed by fire. The damage is estimated at .£6OOO. NAPIER, Fee. 8. A twenty-two- i-oomed house in Market Street, Hastings, owned and occupied by John Hickey, and used as a boarding-house, was totally destroyed by fire at an early hour this morning. The brigade was promptly in attendance, and soon had a good flow of water playing on the fire, but the flames had obtained a great hold, and the efforts of the firemen had to be confined to keeping the blaze to one building. Every stick of furniture was destroyed, but three of the boarders succeeded in saving their effects. The fire started in the kitchen. Insurances on the building. South British £600; on the furniture, Norwich Union £300; piano. North German £4O.
