THE COMING INVASION OF RANGIORA.

TO THE EDITOR. Sib, —An advertisement states that the National Conservative Association are going to mass their forces, trot out their great guns, and lay siege to Eangiora. The preliminaries, truly, are sufficiently awe-inspiring; hut in spite of this wo are hopeful that when the siege is over our walls will show very few breaches. The invaders’ guns will doubtless make a bravo display, but having heard that their powder is rather poor stuff, we feel certain that some of the guns will hang fire. As volunteers are admitted to be better than pressed men in a battle, we confidently trust to our volunteers, a body capable of a

brave and orderly resistance whilst fighting for oar lives and liberties. —I am, &c., CULVERIN.
