THE MATABELE RISING.

[Per Press Association.] CAPETOWN, March 29. Risings have taken place at Shangwe, Msujo and Selukwe in Matabeleland. A son of Lobengula is aiding the rising. A thousand women and children are in the laager at Bulawayo. The rebels number about eight thousand. The Chartered Company do not believe the rising will end in anything very serious. March 30. The rebel natives are collecting thirty miles from Buluwayo and destroying the crops. Forty women were rescued at Mseya and the Matabele retired with heavy loss. Shangwe has also been relieved. Two hundred and fifty people are in a laager at Gwelo. They have some Maxim guns. The whites in the Filibusi district were massacred after a desperate resistance. Five hundred rifles have been despatched from Mafeking to Buluwayo. The Boers are reported to be desirous to he allowed to proceed to the protection of their countrymen in the district.
