Herr Dowe, inventor of the so-called bullet-proof coat, died on Dec. 9. At one time his invention attracted great attention, and he was on the high road to fame and fortune, when the bubble was pricked. It was found, that .the astute German rendered himself bullet-proof, not by the coat outside, but by the-breast-plate concealed underneath.
