GRAIN AND PRODUCE.
Although; there were a fair number of farmers in town on Saturday there were not many ;samples of grain on offer, and beyond the ■ fact that a few small lines of wheat changed hands at quotations there is nothing to report. A rumour was current in town that a line of some 20,000 bushels had been secured for export, but at what price could not be ascertained. Oats are extremely- scarce, and holders are now demanding 2B;at country stations for good short feed aand milling: In spite of the bad weather fair amount of grain has been shipped fr om Port during the week, the bulk of ;it for North Island ports, although some \ wheat and oats have been shipped to Sydney and Newcastle. Potatoes are now offerinig freely, and contracts are being made alb from 32s 6d to 3os at country -stations, according to time and place. The exports «df grain and produce from Lyttelton for title .past week include : 5588 sacks whoat, 885 sacks and 510 bags flour, 687 sacksl • oats, 641 sacks malt, 377 sacks bran, 126 (sacks sharps, 80 sacks pollard, 73 sacks re teal, 74 sacks meal, 25 sacks beans, 4 sacks stares, 774 sacks seed, 799 sacks chaff, 370 bales hay and straw, 530 sacks potatoes, I tl' 09 sacks onions, 401 bales wool, 1 bale leather, 105 cases meats, 50 cases tongues, -hi cases cheese, 53 cases hams and bacon, .150 boxes soap, 10 crates poultry, 54 boxes .-eggs and 302 cases fruit.
