GRAIN AND PRODUCE.

The wet weather during the past week has greatly interfered with business in the Sin market, and has also greatly mili}d against dehverics at Port. It may bo mentioned that the export business is already slightly unsettled hero in consequence of the likelihood of a strike of coalminers in Now South Wales, which, if it should eventuate, would, to a certain extent, prevent vessels going from hero with produce bringing return cargoes of coal. Taking the week through, however, there has been morq doing’ in forage lines than was the case at this period last year. A few medium sized linos of wheat have changed hands at quotations, a fair proportion of them being for Auckland. The scarcity of oats and thopriccs asked by buyers alone stand in the way of business, which has been restricted to supplying immediate local requirements. There has been a fair demand for both oats and Cape barley for sowing for winter feed. Several small lines of feed and second quality barley have changed hands at from 2s 6d to 3s f.0,.b. The weather has prevented chaff coming forward to any extent, but really good samples command 45s to 47s 6d at country stations. A considerable quantity of wheat straw is now being taken for shipment at 30sper ton f.0.h., for well-baled. Deliveries of potatoes have also been retarded by the weather, but forward contracts continue to. be made at quotations for April and May, the Latter showing a tendency to weaken in the face of the heavy supply of Tasmanians reported to be in the Sydney market. Onions are being taken readily at f.0.b., for export. With the approach of- winter dairy produce shows an inclination to harden, and sales of factory butter are now made at lOd per lb.
