STUDENTS OF TRUTH. The Christmas holiday breaking-up entertainment of the Students of Truth kindergarten and day school was given yesterday evening. About 130 children took part in the grand march, which was splendidly carried oiit, every movement being performed with ' exactness, and reflecting great credit both on the children and their instructors. Some recitations and songs were given, one, “ The Gluttonous Duck,” an action recitation, being very amusing. The first part of the programme concluded with a humorous sketch, “ The Gorman Band,” which introduced a character song by Mr and Mrs Orange, which was encored. The second part of the programme opened 1 with a “ Pinafore Poem,” a species of skirt dance to graceful minuet music. This was followed by throe tableaux, the first two containing representations of nursery rhymes and'the third of various characters, among them being “ Bubbles,” “Little 80-Peep,” “Bed Eidinghood,” &c. The last tableau was applauded greatly, and had to be shown a second time. Pole drill, dumb-bells, hoops, Ac., interspersed with songs and dances, furnished a most enjoyable entertainment, which was brought to a close by an old English Christmas Carol. An exhibition of kindergarten and school work was in the hall, and was very creditable to both scholars and teachers. KAIAPOI. The distribution of prizes at the Kaiapoi Borough School took place yesterday afternoon. Thera was a fair attendance, including several of the School Committee, together with the Chairman, Mr E. The annual distribution of prizes to the pupils of the Timaru High School took place on Thursday evening. The Ven. Archdeacon Harper, Chairman of the Board of Governors, presided,' and presented the prizes. There was a large attendance of parents and friends, the main room of the school being crowded. Short addresses were given by the Chairman and the head-master, Mr G-. W. Hoghon, the latter stating that the attendance for the year had been higher than ever before. The head ox the school was B. Parr, with Olive Cnnninghame and A. Kaye second and third. After the presentation an entertainment was given by the pupils.

WAIMATE DISTRICT HIGH SCHOOL,
