BROKERS POE CHRISTCHURCH, MESSES OLLIVIEB AND GRIERSON, To whom Application for Shares may be made. THIS Company has been formed for the purpose of acquiring the sole patent rights for New Zealand of the “Collier Two-Speed Gear" for Cycles, and to import or manufacture cycles fitted with the gear.- It is generally admittedly riders of the ordinary machine that its greatest defect, as a means of locomotion, is the difficulty of mount" ing hills and riding against the wind, or on had roads. This is caused by the single gearing. The object of a two-speed gear is to lessen the amount of labour necessary to propel the cycle up hills and against head winds, or on had roads, and at the same time to allow a higher speed than usual to bo attained on level roads. The if Collier Two* Speed Gear ’’ is simple in construction, strong, and is built as part of the machine. In use, all that is necessary is to raise a knob, fitted at the top of the .cycling frame, and the gearing is changed while riding at any speed. Thus, if a hill is to_he climbed, the knob ie lowered, and immediately the machine becomes much easier to propel. On reaching the summit, hy raising the knob the higher gear comes into play, and increased speed is obtained. The “Collier Two-Speed Gear” has no increase of friction, and is equal at both speeds to a direct driven “Safety.” It has further the additional advantage of practically affording double life to the driving portion of the machine, one bearing being at rest while the other is in use. , The hard work hitherto necessary to propel a \ high-geared machine on give and take roads has debarred a great many people from indulging in the pleasure of cycling, and it is confidently anticipated that the “ Two-Speed Gear” will add greatly to the popularity of the sport. The “ Collier TwoSpeed Gear” is absolutely new as a simplemechamcal motion, and in this lies one great security, to investors. It has been put to every practical test, i and the highest testimonials have been received | from the leading English and colonial riders ana t is intended to establish the head office of the mpany in Wellington, as being tbe most central int to work the colony from. 610° TAILORING EXTRAORDINARY.
