Two teamsters, Mulligan and Ligar, whilst carrying rations to the Victoria Downs Station were attacked by a large body of blacks. Ligar, although badly speared, assisted Mulligan to make a barricade among the waggons with flour bags. They stood a siege for three days, and then drove off their assailants with their rifles and escaped. The blacks returned and looted the camp, and then made off.

A new regulation has been adopted removing the prohibition against Civil servants taking part in politics. Under the new rule the prohibition holds good only during business hours.
