[Special to Pbess Association.] BESIEGED BY BLACKS. POET DAE WIN, June 10. Two teamsters, Mulligan and Ligar, whilst carrying rations to the Victoria Downs Station were attacked by a large body of blacks. Ligar, although badly speared, assisted Mulligan to make a barricade among the waggons with flour bags. They stood a siege for three days, and then drove off their assailants with their rifles and escaped. The blacks returned and looted the camp, and then made off.

MUSICAL EXAMINATIONS. SYDNEY, Juke 10. A total of 922 candidates presented themselves for the Sydney Trinity College musical examinations. This is a large increase on any previous year. THE PLAGUE. The bubonic plague is still raging at Macao, the average death rate being about thirty. The epidemic has entirely disappeared from Hongkong. Cholera is raging at Bangkok. THE CAMPEEDOWN OUTEAGE. Abrahams, perpetrator of the Camperdown outrage, is dead. EE-ELEGTED. Mr Varney Parkes, who resigned bis seat in the House owing to a financial matter, has been re-elected unopposed for Canterbury. EVASION OF SHEEP DUTY. MELBOUEWE, June 10. Claude Perignon was fined £3OO for importing two thousand sheep from NewSouth Wales without paying the duty. ELECTOEAL. ADELAIDE, June 10. Mr Patrick Glynn, a National Defence League candidate, was elected for the North Adelaide constituency in place of Mr Hawker, deceased. A PEOHIBITION EEMOVED. A new regulation has been adopted removing the prohibition against Civil servants taking part in politics. Under the new rule the prohibition holds good only during business hours.
