LAND BOARD.

The Canterbury Laud Board met yesterday ; present—Messrs J. W. A. Marcbaut (Commissioner of Crown Lands), D. M’Millaa, A. C. Pringle, E. Meredith and the Hon W. 0. Walker. Tho following applications were granted: Wesfcarfield Survey District: Thomas Robinson, Section 36452, Block X., 50a 4p; Albert H. Dalton, Seotione 36450, and 36451, Block X., 100 a; Ada M. C. Dalton, Sections 86445 and 36447, Block X„ S9a 2p; Henry Dalton, Sections 36448 and 36449, Block X„ 100 a. Lowry Peaks Survey District: William Bainbridge, Section 4, Block XII., 100 a (ten applicants). Cheviot Survey District: Stephen H. Wood, Section 55, Block VII., 25a 38p (eight applicants). M’Kenzie Suburbs: Lilian F. Cave. Section 30, 5a (ten applicants). Arowhenua Survey District: James Reddick, Section 885, Block 11., Ir. The Board approved of Reserves 948 and 1846, Ar-owhenua Township, being offered for lease for terms of seven years, at rentals of £1 and £2 10s per annum respectively. , . , It was resolved to declare tho selectors’ interests forfeited in six‘cases—two in the Lowry Peaks Survey District, and four, in the Cheviot Survey District. Mr D. L. M'Farlane was granted permission to cut timber in the Waiau Bush Reserve, Cheviot. The Commissioner laid before the Board particulars us to the proposed subdivision of tho area acquired at Ashley Gorge. Temporary licenses were granted to: John Ingram, Rural Section 26115,25116, and 34781, Oxford Survey District, at a rental of £5 per annum; and W. H. Story, Baserva 1056, Orari Township, at a rental of £1 10s. Mr C. H. Tripp wrote, stating that a deputation from South Canterbury Crown tenants was desirous of waiting on the Board at Timaru as to reductions of rent. It was decided to inform Mr Tripp that it was tbe intention of tho Board to adjourn to Timaru for tho purpose of considering applications already made by Crown tenants for relief, and that if other tenants >wera also desirous of obtaining relief, they should iu the first instance make their circumstances known to the Board in writing, furnishing such evidence
