FOOTBALL.

BAST CHRISTCHURCH CLUB, A special meeting of the East Christchurch Football Club was held last evening at the Clarendon Hotel. Dr Jennings, vice-president, occupied the chair, and there was a fair attendance of members. The Chairman said that the meeting 'wij.B called to elect a number of members of the Lyttelton Club members of the Easts Christchurch Club. They were very grateful to the Lyttelton Club for coming to their assistance at a time when' they needed it very much; and with that assistance the old club would bo enabled to meet all its engagements, and probably carry a number of them to a satisfactory issue. The club had met this offer of the Lyttelton Club with a counter-offer and would give them representation bn the committee. There was no vacancy on the committee, but they proposed to elect two of the Lyttelton members to the committee, as the committee had power lb add to its number. . Messrs R. Burns, J. Mahar, C, Riach, G. Rich, Winter, ’j, Fenton, D. Page and P. Piccaithley (of the Lyttelton Club) were then unanimously elected members, and Messrs P. Pitcaithley and J. Mahar were elected to the committee. The Secretary said that a letter had been received from the West Coast, asking whether a combined team from the three clubs that played the Hokitika Club last season could pay a visit to the Coast this season. A meeting of the secretaries of the three clubs would be held nest weak to consider the matter. Dr Jennings then proposed the health of the ‘‘ Old Club, 1 * and also of the Lyttelton. Club, coupling with it the names of those players who had recently joined. He made a few remarks,' in the course of which he referred to the necessity of steps being taken to deal with the question of junior football. The toast was drunk with musical honours. Cheers were given for Dr Jennings, after whiqh the proceedings terminated.. The club will send a team to Ashburton to-day, to play a match with the local club. KATEORAI-LINWOOD MATCH. The Eaikorai team will arrive, from Dunedin by to-night’s express. The railway authorities have consented to deify the nprth train on Saturday till 5.15 p.q)<* so that visitors will be able to witness; the whole of the match. CANTERBURY COLLEGE CLUB. 1 The Canterbury College Club will send a team to-day to Timaru, to play a match with,the Timaru Club.
