NEW ZEALAND AMATEUR ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION.
* A meeting of the General Committee of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association -was held at the City Hotel last evening; present—Dr Moorhouse (Dunedin) in the chair, Messrs W. Toaks, W. J. Moir, and W. J. Cotterill (Auckland), P, Selig (Hawke’s Bay), H. S. Batchelor (Manawatu), J. C. Cusack (Canterbury), E. E. Webb, honorary treasurer, and L, A. Cuff, honorary.secretary. The Secretary said that the first business was the consideration of the balancesheet of the late combined athletic and cycling championship meeting, which had been forwarded from Napier. He had written to the Secretary of the Ha wke’a Bay Club stating that the Association objected to certain items in the balancesheet and asking for further information. He read a letter from the Secretary of the Hawke’s Bay Club, stating that the expense incurred by the local clubs had been considerable. The Secretary said that the Reinstatement Committee had met the executive of the Cyclists’ Alliance, and that body had objected to a number of items, making a total of about £45 12s 6d. After discussion the committee decided to object to certain items, and to ask for an explanation of others. An application from the Gisborne Amateur Athletic Club, for affiliation, was held over till next meeting, pending the receipt of a printed copy of its rules. Letters were road from the New South Wales and Victorian Associations, agreeing to the Australasian. Championship Meeting being held at Christchurch on Jan. 2 and 4, 1896. A sub-committee, consisting of Messrs E. K. Webb, J. F. Grierson and L. A. Cuff, was appointed to confer with the executive of tho Cyclists’ Alliance on the question of holding the Australasian championships m conjunction with the Now Zealand cycling championships. A letter was read from Mr R, W. Shallcross, Nelson, on the question of forming an Amateur Athletic Club in that town, and asking for information. The* Secretary reported that he had forwarded the necessary information. An application was received from the Auckland Club to have T. Roberta’a time of 60aeo, recorded in the Club’s 440yda Hurdle Championship, passed as a record. Certificates were read, stating that Roberts jumped all the hurdles fairly, that _ the course was correct, and that three timekeepers made the time 60aec, one 60 1-lOsec, and two 61soo. It was resolved, after discussion—" That the Secretary be instructed to write to the Auckland Club, asking if Rule 19 had been complied with.’’ A letter was read from the Wanganui Club, asking the committee to reconsider the applications for reinstatement from A. H. Holder and A. Norton. The committee decided that it could, not depart from its previous decision on the matter.
