AUCKLAND HOSPITAL .

[Peb Press Association.! AUCKLAND, Mat 14.

At a meeting c£ the Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board the question of hospital management and discipline agsan came up for discussion, several hours being devoted to the subject. The leading points of the sub-committee's report on the internal management of the institution were again gone into, and the original report, which had been considerably amended by the House Committee last week, had to undergo much further amendment before its adoption. A clause requiring the dismissal of all charge nurses in order to enable the new medical superintendent to choose hia own staff was rejected, and a clause referring to the consumption of stimulants and medical comforts by members of the Board was amended by striking out tbo words “ this is necessary because occasionally stimulants have been supplied to members of the Board of which no record has been made,, while tho annual supply statements would show that all alcoholic liquor had been used for patients.” Some other clauses were either struck out or amended. The resignation of Nurse Edwards was accepted with regret. Nurse Banbury wrote stating that she had intended for some time past to send in her resignation because of recent developments, and not wishing to bo subject to further annoyance. She now desired to terminate her connection with the hospital. Nurse Banbury’s resignation was accepted. A letter received by the Chairman from Dr Magill was laid upon the table and left for future consideration. It concludes as follows - “Unless the Board honestly carry out the reasonable proposal to leave the internal management completely to the futurs medical superintendent the position will be no better off than it is at present, as there is plenty to occupy one’s attention in tho building without being hampered by outside interference.”
