LOCAL CHAMPIONSHIPS. Footballers again experienced beautiful weather oa Saturday. At Lancaster Park two interesting nosier gameo were played, Merivale boating Canterbury Colic,go by fifteen pointu to seven, and Ohriatoharoh defeating North Canterbury by fifteen points to ten. At Sydenham Park Llawood had no difficulty ia defeating Sydenham by thirty points to five, and at Kaiapoi the local teem completely routed East Christchurch by thirty-seven points to nothing. CHRISTCHURCH v. NORTH CANTERBURY. This game took place at Lano&stoc Park, which was in capital order. After tha kick-off a rush of tho country team's forwards, with Duncan in tho lead, took play to tha Christchurch line, and, Wilson havi»g a shot from » penalty, a force resulted. North Centerb'arjf kept up the attack until Taylor, by a capital dribble, took tho play ‘to safe quarters. Just before halftime r. fine passing rush, in which Simpgoc, Oram end Bate were prominent, ended in the last-named scoring. Templeton failed with the kick, and tho teams changed ends with tho score f.t twenty-oca to nil. In tho second spell., tho Yellows ■wore kept almost entirely on the defensive. Once the East forwards came with a fine rush, and for some minutes kept up a stropg attack in front of the Kaispoi goal. Balch at last obtained possession, and dodging through all the East forwards, ran to tho centra, where he passed to Pearce. Tho latter outpaced hie opponents and scored. No goal was kicked.
