I Mr S. D. Barker, Hon Secretary of the ISfc John Ambulance Association, attended the mooting to obtain suggestions for the formation of a code of rules for use of the i new horse ambulance carriage. After a \ lengthy discussion Mr Barker retired. | Professional discussions were then roll Burned. j In reply to a letter from the Society I relative to the inspection and examination j of dairies and milk, fcho following letter | was received from the Colonial Secretary, | Wellington. | “ Sir,—l have the honour to acknowledge | receipt of your letter of April 22, pointing \ out that no inspector has been appointed I under the Dairy Industry Act, 1894, j for the Christchurch district. In reply, I j am directed by tho Colonial Secretary to 1 inform you that on reference to the ! Agricultural Department it appears | that several general inspectors have been j appointed under that Act, and have from j time to time visited the dairy factories in and near Christchurch. Under the Public Health Act, 1876, Amendment Act, 18S1, the Govornor-in-Gouncil may make reguiaj tioiia authorising local bodies to appoint
I inspectors and to provide generally for the i inspection of milk and dairies within their ! districts. Esgulationa so made at the t request of the Wellington City Council and I adjacent local bodies are published in the S New Zealand Gazette of Feb. 14, 1895, nago j 256.” | It waa resolved to send a copy of this : letter to the Christchurch City Council, j and to usfc that body to take steps for the appointment of an inspector.
