DUTY ON FROZEN MEAT. CAPETOWN, Mat 10. Referring to the proposed duty on frozen meat, Mr Cecil Rhodes said that he favoured protecting the products of the soil of the colony, but was opposed to protecting manufactures. NEWFOUNDLAND. PARI.B, Mat 12, The French religious’orders ara intensely excited and unable to decide on their attitude aa to tho taxation of bishops, and are disputing it. The cardinal priests, the bishops and a hundred and fifty thousand monks are affected by it. Bishop Puget urges that the tax should be paid under protest, aa a refusal means war against tba State and a casus belli between France and the Vatican. THE BEHRING SEA AWARD. VICTORIA (B.O.) Mat 12.
