Xu tho course o£ an interview he vouched for the truth of the statement that the Governor of Dahomey led a French expedition up the Niger River, and declares that (wo large forces are assembled at the Lower river. Captain,Lugard concluded a treaty with tho chiefs of Borgu on thp Niger without paying attention to French claims. Mat 12. The Times does not question the French seizure of British territory in the Niger, but says that the claims involve monstrous protension, and that the good feeling existing between London and Paris alone prevents the Company’s troops ejecting the French. PARIS, Mat 10. The French press reports that the Governor of Dahomey has completed the formal occupation of Hinterland up to the Niger.
