AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL ASSOCIATION.
TO THE EDITOR. Sib, —Your columns inform us that a general meeting of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association is to be called to consider the plans and estimates by Mr England for the erection of luncheon rooms and grand stand on the grounds of the Association. It must not ba thought' that I wish to decry Mr England’s ability to produce such plans. Doubtless, hie plana arc most suitable, but would it not be mere satisfactory to the committee and to tho public if competitive designs and estimates were advertised for P The annual gathering of thia Association draws together the largest concourse of people held in the colony, and leaving out of consideration my individual opinion, that seating for 600 persona in a grand stand is very inadequate, architects throughout the colony would ho proud to send in designs for tho building. The combination of luncheon rooms and grand stand may bo successfully accomplished, i? the size of the building be extended, and result in an ultimata saving to the Association, if not a present one. I trust some other pens, perhaps your own, will deal further with this subject. lam not an architect myself, and therefore have no personal interest in tho matter beyond the use of the stand.—l am, PRO BONO PUBLICO.
