At the annuel meeting of the Australian Mutual .-Provident Society tho report was adopted and general satisfaction was ex- 1 pressed at the progress.made. The Chairman, said that though the new business was nearly ; £50,d00 less than iathepre vious! year,. still it • was; close upon three ■ millions sterling. He pointed out that nearly t-every ocher-office in Australia was losing business in recant years, but they never had a, decrease on the total volume of business .in force. Notwithstanding that : they ' had had to grant concessioaa: to constituents, still they were obtaining the highest rates on investments of any life - office in Australasia. The Society, he said, continued the policy of vigorous investigation of investments and the utmost economy was exercised. Thera was every indication of. a . revival of prosperity in the colonies,/and he was hopeful that there would be a satisfactory increase in the business of the Society.
