BALLANCE LIBERAL ASSOCIATION.

The usual fortnightly meeting of tine Association was held last evening, Mr J. H. M’Millan in the chair. There was a good attendance of members. Thirty candidates were nominated for membership, and a large amount of routine business was gone through. A communication from the Canterbury Progressive Liberal Aasoeiation was read and discussed, and n resolution passed to the effect that as the Hon W. P. Eeaves had announced his intention of dealing with Canterbury College and other bodies it was uaadrisablo to take any action in the matter a letter was read from the Canterbury Liberal Association asking the Balance Association to co-operate in inviting the Minister of Lands to address the elector*! of Christchurch. It was resolved to cr.--operate with the Canterbury liberal Association, and a committee was appointed to move in the matter. Thursday was fixed e-s the meeting night of the Association the Waltham Library having been secured as a meeting place. It wan decided to ask Mr W. W. Collins, to address tho members on the nest meeting night. A paper was rend by Mr Wright, on “Depression; what it is, and how to cure it.” Tho paper evoked a considerable amount of discussion, the speakers being Messrs Meyer, Sim, Lafferty and Moody.
