COLONIAL LOANS.
THE ADVANCES TO SETTLERS ACT. [Special to Pbesb Association.! LONDON, Apbil 26. The West Australian Government has issued a 3| par cent loan of three-quarters of a million, with_ a minimum of ninety-nine. The price at which the loan is offered haa surprised the market. The Morning Advertiser publishes a report that Victoria proposes to shortly issue a large loan, and the paper says that unless it is for redemption purposes its success ia doubtful. The Agent-General for Victoria denies the report. In connection with the Advances to Settlers Act, the Hon J. G. Ward has arranged with the Bank of England to issue to-morrow a 3 per cent loan of a million and a half, with a minimum of ninety. Tenders close on Thursday. Tenders for the West Australian loan close on Thursday. The New Zealand loan is quoted at from 3| to 4 per cesit premium, and the West Australian at 3 per cent up to 3-- per cent. Only a few transaction!) have taken place, hnt the successful floating of both loans • is assured.
