The Knights of Labour have made proposals to the directors of the Mokihinui Coal Company to take over the mine and work it on the co-operative principle. At a meeting of the Trades and Labour Council, tho following delegates were elected to' represent the Council at a conference of Trades Councils at Christchurch at Easter:—-Messrs A. Ward, A. Collins and H. C. Jones. The half-yearly report and balance-sheet were adopted. The receipts for the half-year were £56 0a 6d, and the expenditure £i9 12s 7d.
