The report of a majority of the committee set up to inquire into the unemployed difficulty spates that it is impossible to at present a scheme for the relief of distress. THE NEW SOUTH WALES MINERS. NEWCASTLE, March 7. The Miners’ Delegate Board ia calling a conference of delegates from tho various mines in tho district, with the object of reorganising tha Miners’ Association and taking united action to resist the reductions now being enforced. The Waratah miners have been notified of an intended reduction of 6d per ton in the hewing rate. The Glebe miners have decided to resist the proposed reductions. IPer Press Association.! WELLINGTON, March 7. Tha carriers have determined to form an Association. During the discussion some, of the speakers complained of the way in which Chinamen tried to cut rates, and tho Chairman said that, strange to say, there were men who would carry for Chinamen at half the rate they would accept from their own countrymen. The Knights of Labour have made proposals to the directors of the Mokihinui Coal Company to take over the mine and work it on the co-operative principle. At a meeting of the Trades and Labour Council, tho following delegates were elected to' represent the Council at a conference of Trades Councils at Christchurch at Easter:—-Messrs A. Ward, A. Collins and H. C. Jones. The half-yearly report and balance-sheet were adopted. The receipts for the half-year were £56 0a 6d, and the expenditure £i9 12s 7d.
