TO THE EDITOR. Sib, —If your correspondent who signs himself “ A Neighbour ” is a neighbour ia the sense of living next to the hotel in question, he cannot fail to see how the trade is carried on. If ha is not a neighbour, and does not get a glass through tho back gate, why does he write in defence of "innocent people ?”—I bid, &c., , A DISGUSTED ONE.

TO THE EDITOR. Sib,~A letter appeared iu your Journal on Tuesday morning etiting that Sunday trading wsa being carried on in a certain district, the name of which wsa not mentioned. I should like the writer of that letter, iu justico to the hotelkeepers in Christchurch and suburbs, to inform us what district he referred to, as innocent publicans will for the time being be placed under a ban. Ido not believe that such a circumstance occurred, and that your correspondent’s effusion was simply the outcome of a disordered brain. As a man he should have indicated the hotel to which ha referred as an index to the police, who, I am sure, are ever ready to do their duty when called upon. —I am, &0., * PaIB DO’S.
