Pateson, the manager of the Sydney Fresh Food and Ice Company, who has returned from England, is very emphatic about , tbe mischief that the Victorian Dairymen's Association had done in causing the stoppage of the London butter committee. He was positive they were not acquainted with the conditions under which the butter committee carried on their operations; or the Association woulß hare supported the committee, which had done great good to the butter producers. As to fixing the maximum price of butters to arrive, it was clear the Association were totally iguorant of the matter, and did hot understand what it meant. Pressure of business prevents .Mr Weddel, of the well-known meat' firm of Weddel and Company, from visiting the colonies at present, but he will send Mr Lowe, formerly produce inspector in London for the New Zealand Government. but now in the employment of Messrs of Messrs Weddel and Co., at -the end of March on a tour through Australia and New Zealand, in connection .with, the dairy produce and frozen meat, trade. - , . - The Board of Trade returns for December, just issued, show that the total import of butter to the United Kingdom for the month was 235,387 cwt, against 198.565 cwt for the corresponding moth of 1893. / Of this total import Australasia contributed 51,643 cwt.
