[Per Press Association. - ] DUNEDIN, Ebb. 28, Margaret Brown was fined £lO and costs for selling drink at the Grand Stand booth, on the i'orbury racecourse. Two informations charging her with delaying to admit the police are now being heard. Mr Hugh Gourley was to-day re-elected chairman of the Harbour Board. In returning thanks,. he said that during the past two months the revenue showed an increase of £2300 as compared with a similar period of last year. At the Police Court to-day Mr Carew, S.M., reserved hia decision in the case against the licensee of the Douglas Hotel of delaying to admit the police, and adjourned a case against the licensee of the Shamrock Hotel for the production of a witness.

At the sale of pastoral leases situated in Waitaki, Lake, Yincent, Tuapeka and Bruce Counties, seven runs were sold at the upset price, and seven were passed in. Two young men last evening noticed a glare of fire in the premises at Port Chalmers, of Kennard, Green-grocer, and giving an alarm the incipient fire was put out. It was found that kerosene had been smeared over scrim and paper. A bottle of kerosene was on a table, and there were two tins of kerosene in the shop, with a bottle full standing by. Kennard says hia wife and family were in Dunedin. He left the shop himself at seven, when everything was safe, and cannot account for the fire. The stock and furniture are insured in the Norwich Union for £IOO, and the premises, which consist of a shop and four rooms, the property of Mr Harrison, in the New Zealand office for £250.
