WOOL SALES.

The third wool, Bales of the season by the Christchurch wool-brokers were held at the Chamber of Commerce yesterday. There was a large attendance b£ buyers—much larger than at the previous sales of the season—and though the bidding, except for a few special: lots, was by no means animated, it was fairly; regular throughout, the only dragging being in the hour before dinner. The crossbred wool offered was cot > nearly do good an assortment as was catalogued for the earlier sales, being? generally wanty in condition, and dingy in colour, while the faults in "gettingup ” which were so strongly complained of earlier in the season were even more conspicuous at the present series. The demand ran chiefly on fairly-packed merino wools, and on croas-breda approaching to the Leicester or Lincoln character. Of "these, the menaces fully maintained last sales’ values, and in some instances marked a slight advance, and the cross-brada and long-wcola brought close, up to last salsa’ rates.
