BOARD OF EDUCATION TRAVELLING EXPENSES.

A return placed before the North Canterbury Board of Education yesterday morning shows the travelling expenses of the various members to have been charged as under:—Mr T. H. Anson (25 miles to come), from 1890 to 1893, claimed £257 13s, and had attended 264 Board and committee meetings; Mr J. Joyce (8 miles to come), claimed £7 7e, and had attended 129 Beard and committee meetings; Mr R. Meredith (30 miles), £l2O 10s, 149 meetings; Mr H. W. Perymsn (12 miles), £153 18s 6d, 241 meetings; Mr A. Saunders (15 miles), £127 15s, 188 meetings; Mr P. Westenra (3 years, 27 miles), £79 5s Sd, 83 meetings; MrJ. Euddenklau (2 years, 34 miles), £22, 23 meetings; Mr T. S. Weston (3 years, 1 mile), £l2 Is 6d, 151 meetings; Mr E. G. Wright (4 years, three-quarters of a mile), no claim, 87 meetings; the Hon W.‘ Montgomery (3 years, 88 miles), no claim, 107 meetings; Mr T. W. Adams (2 years, 31 miles), £55 Is Bd, 52 meetings; Mr R. Westenra (2 years,quarter-mile), no claim, 59 meetings. These figures are to the end of 1893. For the first three months of the present year the expenses charged were—Mr T. W. Adams (31 miles), £ll, 11 meetings;' Mr T. H. Anson' (23 miles), £l3 10s, 11 meetings; Mr J. Joyce (8 miles), no claim, 19 meetings; Mr E. Meredith (30 miles), £4 16s, 8 meetings; the Hon W. Montgomery (38 miles), no claim, 19 meetings ; Mr H. W. Peryman (12 miles), £l3 0s sd, 14 meetings; Mr A. Saunders (15 miles), £lO 10s, 17 meetings; Me E. Westenra (quarter-mile), no claim, 11 meetings; Mr E. G. Wright (three-quarter-mile), £1 16s, 18 meetings. Thie gives a total of £53 12a 5d charged by nine members coming 160 miles to attend 128 Board and committee meetings.
