ROAD BOARD.
KOWAI. A meeting of this Board was held on Thursday, Feb. 8; present—Messrs E. B. Holdsworfch (chairman), T. H. Evans, and J. Mathers.—Accounts amounting to £166 la 4d were passed for payment. The receipts since last meeting were reported to have been £279 19s sd.—lt was decided to discontinue buying small birds’ eggs and beads after Fab. 15.—1 t was decided that the next meeting of the Board should be held on Thursday, March B.—Correspondence was read—From the Charitable Aid Board regarding payment of contribution
by monthly instalments _ if the whole amount could not be paid early in the financial year. Consideration was deferred. From the Paymaster-General, advising that the sum of £lB7 10s ( had been remitted to credit of the account of the Board at the Bank of New Zealand, Amberley, being payment of subsidy under the Local Bodies Finance and Powers Act. From the Resident Railway Engineer, stating that he regretted that the footbridge at Stony Creek had not yet been put in hand, but as soon as the timber was delivered the work would be pushed through.—The Clerk’s report was read. With reference to the proposed protective works at Leithfield, the Board considered it advisable for the parsons interested to do the work themselves, subject to the approval of the Clerk to the Board, the Board to contribute half coat of the work up to £7 103.— Soma small works were ordered to be attended to and the meeting terminated.
