SUMNER BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The usual fortnightly meeting of this Council -was a held, on .Tuesday ; evening ?, present—Hr . (Mayor) i and rConncillora Carpenter, Collins; Graham, Haywajdand Hughe?...< Ah apology was received from .Councillor Kitsoh for. absence.
The Mayor's statement ; showed that he and several councillors had, on two occasions, met the Lyttelton Harbour Board Improvement; Committee in regard to fixing- the high-water boundary, which had been 1 surveyed and satisfactorily arranged. The jetty had also been brought under the notice of the Board as being altogether too small. Several other matters had been. discussed with the committee, who promised to bring them before the Harbour Board.
The Finance Committee's report was as followsßates collected since last meeting jBI4 2a, debit balance at bank JE3 3s, ratei outstanding J 3202 6a 4d. A latter was’ received from the .Bank of New South Wales, asking for certain information, which the, clerk was instructed to supply. \ It was moved by Councillor Collins, seconded by Councillor Graham and carried—-‘'That in future the Council sit on Monday evening instead of Tuesday.” Mr J. D. Watson interviewed the Council with reference to his verandah-posts being out of line with the kerbing, and wished the Council to meet him in the expense of altering them. The applicant' was informed that, as the Council’s engineer did not giva'him the line when he was building, the Council could not assist him in the matter.
Accounts amounting to £42 13s 2d wore passed for payment and. the meeting terminated. <•
