ST ALBANS SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of the St Albans School Committee was held on Wednesday; present—Messrs T. Palmer (chairman), H. Owen, J. M’Oleave, T. C. Norris, J. Gibson, G. Capper, H. Morgan, J. Brooker and C. Chaplin (secretary). The head-master’s report gave the average attendance at the mam school since the holidays as 467‘5 out of a roll number of 583, Theie had been twenty children withdrawn and thirty-two admitted. He recommended Thomas Chambers aa pupil-teacher, a vacancy being caused by Miss Rosewarne having gone to the Normal, School. It was decided to recommend the Board to appoint Thomas Chambers to the position. A letter was received from Mr Lain?, saying that, through inflammation of the eyes, unless he could obtain further leave of absence, he would be compelled to resign. A ballot was taken for the election of three members to the Board of Education, and resulted in favour of Messrs Mannings, Montgomery and Webb.
