la consequence of the holidays the business done at the Rangiora market yesterday was limited. Mr W. Buss did not hold a sale at the Central Yards. At the North Canterbury Yards there was but a small entry. Messrs A. P. Tutton, P. C. Tabatt, Pyna and Co. and Miles and Co. sold, and the prices were—Crossbred twofcooths, 8s 6d to 10a 2d; merino ewes and lambs, 3a lid (all counted)} orosshreddo, 4s 5 fat crossbreds, 11s to 12a 6d; pigs, suckers, 7s to 12s ; store pigs, 12s to 22a j cattle, store cows, to £6 ss; fat cows, M 10a to J 37 2s 6d. Very little produce was brought. in for sale, and the prices showed no change from those of the previous market day. Messrs Wilson and Sons and Messrs Miles and Co.held sales.

There was only a small entry at the Ashbmtoa yards yesterday, tho holidays having upset farmers’ ordinary arrangements. The attendance was below the average, and bidding was very dull. Inferior sorts of sheep were unsaleable at any price, and a good many of the better sorts failed to find buyers. A really nice line of 150 four-tooth cross-breds, nearly fat, sold at 12s lid j fair first-cross hoggets made Bs, fat crosn-breds, medium quality, 10a to Us, merino ewes and lambs 4s, cross-bred do 7a Id, fat merino ewes 4s 6d, do wethers 6s to 7s. There was a very poor entry of cattle, and the demand for beef was greater than the supply. Pat cattle are now very scarce in this district.
