Uses writes from Gisborne to the Native Minister:--"! have been requested by many of the leading chiefs of this district to inform the Government that one of the candidates for the Eastern Maori electorate' is distributing flour, sugar and other things widely among Natives to induce 'them to support and vote'for him. 'They ask the Government to ar.aouace.to the Native people that such proceedings are illegal and improper, and if possible to punish thdae who are guilty of ■ them.” The Native Minister has given directions that an extract from the Corrupt Practices Act'shall ba published in this week’s Eahiti. ■
